If the buyer decides that no, he is paying 18k for (30*300)+(30*100) = 12,000 gold coins worth of alcohol, than yes, it is his (the buyer's) problem.

Maybe scam isn't the correct word but he definitely took advantage of him. He knew he had 12k worth of alcohol but he kept saying "100g per point". Why not just tell the buyer 12k when he was able to tell the buyer was having problems with the math?

Selling materials for more than the price of the trader is taking advantage of ignorance, because not everyone (particularly new people) knows to check the material trader often.
Selling something for a certain price and the buyer getting the price wrong because he can't do math? That's his own damn fault.

Why should he? If he sees an opportunity to make a nice chunk of change because the buyer is uninformed, or uneducated in math, why is it the sellers fault? Sure, I would have corrected him, and sold it for the correct amount, but if it were me buying and I added up to 18k when it should be 12k, I'd call myself an idiot for making that mistake.

Not really stupid per se, but rather too trusting. I was buying booze in kamadan a few weeks ago when I saw someone selling 4000 odd points, price was reasonable so I said sure. They wanted cash so I said ok we'll do it in lots of 100k. They refused said they wanted it all in one go, told em that wouldn't work so they offered all the booze at once up front and then I'd pay...
Spent about 10 mins explaining to them why that was a bad idea, cash limits and the right way to do trades. Hate to think what would have happened if someone less honest had tried to buy them.

I'll go with "nub"
I laugh every time I see someone use nub for noob. I was on the internet when it was a command prompt. It all started with calling people Newbies. Well, everyone was a newbie back in the 90's so it was not a derogatory term. Later it got shortened to noob but still with the pronunciation of newbie. Late arrivals to the internet thought that noob was pronounced like the word rube or tube.
The shortening of the word to nub makes me think of the person using it is a lazy and ignorant person who not only does not know the origins of the netspeak word but cannot even be bothered with typing 4 letters instead of 3.

^^ I'm going to have to go with "Jelly". To me this is beyond stupid. I immediately think of 12yr olds when I hear/see this term. For those trying to act older and for those who are older, the use of this term conveys immaturity at it's best.

Have to agree with you there LordDragon.
Newbie was the original term and is still used to describe someone who is new to the game. Noob on the other hand is, yes, mispronounced but also it is meant to be as the general derogatory meaning to most people, is someone who isn't new but acts like they are. And i have to confess i use nub myself but when i use it, it's always in a tongue in cheek way, generally calling my mates nubcake(go figure).
Also another misused term is the FTW term which got changed from the early days of the 80's and 90's from F@@@ The World to For The Win, still makes me chuckle every time i see this as i know most don't know it's true origins.

Isn't buying for less and selling for more than something is worth "taking advantage"? If someone wants to buy Ecto for 8k while he can do it at trader for 7k, would you really say "oh, I'll sell it for trader price"?
...If you say yes, I'll say that I'm the prince of Nigeria and I have a will on your name. Why don't you pay us $50 to confirm....

That reminds me. This kid in our alliance once asked for a run to the Sunspear Great Hall.
Assuming he just needed help getting into NF, we asked what town he was starting from and we were prepared to give him directions to Kaineng or Lion's Arch. He said he was in Kamadan and wanted someone to run him to the Sunspear Great Hall. We just laughed.
I told him that if he was still level 1 then he might need help, but if he was level 2 or up then he could make it on his own. He said he was level 20.

Lol, if you're so pessimistic to believe there isn't an honest soul left on this planet, I'd just end it dude.
I once saw a guy selling Feathers (like 50 stacks) for 2k under the (then) current price, I could've made an easy 100k off him, but instead I pm'ed him that he was selling for too little and he should ask more, he thanked me and raised his price. And yes, if someone would buy ecto for 8k and I knew it was 7k at the trader, I would pm him saying that he can buy it at the trader for 7k. It's called 'being nice'.

This is kinda one of the reasons I have not much done trading unless game I play has Auction House like system for it. It was typical to get swarmed by tons of PM giving advice what just made it harder to notice people who was willing to trade.

Does that mean you'd prefer to lose money? Fair enough, I guess. If I was making a mistake like that, I can certainly say I would appreciate advice given.

LOL, i wish i could say that he was, but he wasn't. This child is famous in our alliance for asking for help with every little tiny aspect of the game. He's about 10 or 11 years old and simply too young for the game and too gullible. He'll believe anything a stranger tells him.
Once he spent time on alliance chat begging us to run him to Yak's Bend. He said he wanted to create a Dervish/Assassin and he needed to get to Yak's Bend!! After a while we asked why he wanted to reach Yak's so badly and he just kept repeating that he wanted a D/A!!!!!! I told him he needed to create a Dervish in NF. He then got angry and insulting. He told me to shut up and that he knew that much. He wanted someone to run his Dervish from Kamadan to Yak's so he could make a Dervish/Assassin!!!!!!!
It turned out that someone had told him you can only unlocked the Assassin secondary in Yak's and he believed them. We told him that wasn't true but he just told us to shut up. We had enough of the insults at that point and told him if he wanted to get to Yak's so bad to run himself and that a level 20 dervish could get there with no problem. We didn't bother to tell him how to unlock an assassin. He'll figure it out when he reaches Yaks.
